Marianne Buijs

Dutch born artist Marianne Buijs developed her artistic career later in life. Her superb sense of colour and design, used in previous years with theatrical and stage make-up, eventually found its way on canvas.

Self-taught, she initially worked with oil and watercolours, but found acrylic the most versatile medium for her expression, and she brings perspective in her art.

The exploration of colour and composition was further enhanced through studies with Sandy Lam, Teresa Knight, Chris Wootton and Karen Martin Samson in B.C., and from Torie Sepulveda and Marsha Dalquist in Mexico.Recent experience in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, have led to more abstract paintings.

Marianne has participated in several shows and expositions in galleries on Vancouver Island and Todos Santos, Mexico. She enjoys commissioned work and her paintings are held in Canada, Mexico and Europe. She is a member of the Art Group Comox Valley and the Comox Valley Art Council.
