Tina has been involved with arts and crafts since she began signing autograph books as a child. In Europe, there were illustrations or stickers whenever one signed an autograph books. Her own autographic book, saved carefully over the years, shows children’s drawings, watercolour sketches and even detailed watercolour paintings.
Sketching has been the thread that has tied together many of the art activities Tina has done. She has taken lessons from North Island artists and learned to paint in Port McNeill for over 30 years. As a teacher, she shared her love of art and crafts with Friday lessons in origami, egg decorating, 3-D art, learning about colour wheels and playing with tessellations. In the Comox Valley, she has taken hundreds of photographs of the area and uses them as inspiration for her paintings, fiber art and quilting. Taking classes and getting together with the Comox Valley Art Group has reinforced her interests and talents. These artistic pursuits are an amazing way to spend one’s retirement years!
